Roof
After a long winter you should inspect you roof for any needed repairs.
Some basic problems you should be looking for are shingles that are chipped, curling or missing. If you have any of these damaged shingles then you should get them corrected as soon as possible. Damaged shingles can lead to serious leaks that can end up costing you thousands of dollars in damage to the interior of your home. You may even have mold damage that can cause health problems to anyone in the house, especially children.
I don't recommend you getting on your roof to perform these repairs, instead call a professional roofer contractor to inspect the damage and provide you with a written estimate for the repairs and even the cost of a new roof.
If you decide to get a new roof, remember to have all of the existing shingles removed right down to the existing plywood sheathing. Have the plywood sheathing inspected and replace any damaged plywood before the new roof is installed.
Asphalt shingles add a lot of weigh to the roof and depending on how old your house is you may already have 2 layers of shingles. Any more then 2 layers of roofing shingles will put a tremendous amount of weigh on the roof, which could cause it to weaken or even collapse over time.
Consider installing a roof ridge vent or a thermostat controlled roof exhaust fan to help remove the excess heat in your attic for those hot summer months. There are even Solar powered roof exhaust fan available.
Have a professional Roofing contractor provide you with an asphalt roofing shingle brochure which will provide you with different colors & styles, quality and years of warranty.
Enjoy your home.
